Karla Butterfield, Sustainability Director at Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA), and James Fera, Sustainability Consultant at SWA, have both been named Home Innovation NGBS Green Partners of Excellence for 2020. In addition, Karla is recognized as a Legacy Recipient for being recognized for five or more years. Being among this elite group of green certification participants to be recognized validates the commitment they have both made to providing clients with increased value, professionalism, and relevance in the marketplace through third-party verification to the NGBS. NGBS Green Verifiers are trained, tested, and accredited by Home Innovation to ensure consistency and rigor for NGBS Green Certifications across the country.
NGBS Green, which is based on the ICC-700 National Green Building Standard™ (NGBS), has certified more homes than any other national green home certification program. “In the past year, conversations on how to minimize a building’s impact on the environment, while concurrently addressing how it can improve resident’s health and wellness have become mainstream,” said Michelle Foster, Home Innovation’s Vice President, Sustainability. “Climate change, COVID, natural disasters of increasing frequency and intensity, and a heightened interest in ESG goals have sparked an even greater movement toward building homes that are better for the environment and better for the residents. NGBS Green Partners of Excellence, like James and Karla, are industry professionals who take action to help the industry move to the next level of performance by helping builders create sustainable, healthy homes that will yield benefits for years to come.”
