Debevoise – Community in Affordable Senior Housing
Energy Code Commissioning Services
The Debevoise residential building is an urban infill project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that includes 65 housing units. The eight-story building from Arker Companies would feature 6,600 square feet of commercial space and 400 square feet of community space. The project is targeting completion in early 2021.
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) worked closely with the design and construction teams from The Arker Companies and Aufgang Architects to ensure that the project is built in compliance with the accessibility requirements of federal and state accessibility laws and the local building code. This includes Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the New York City Building Code.
SWA consultants conducted plan reviews during the design stage, performed field inspections during construction, and offered technical assistance throughout all phases of design and construction. SWA provided guidance to ensure that all aspects of the facilities are accessible, thereby upholding the program goals and promoting the safety and comfort of the senior population.
SWA is providing energy code commissioning services for the HVAC, domestic hot water, and lighting control systems. Through design reviews and functional testing, SWA is verifying that the project’s energy-related systems perform efficiently, reliably, and maintain occupant comfort. SWA is ensuring that the owner is receiving the high performance building they defined in the design phase.
