SWA’s Proven Track Record with LEED BD+C
Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI) recently designated Steven Winter Associates (SWA) as a LEED Proven Provider Organization, for the Building Design + Construction (BD+C) rating system family, which includes LEED for New Construction, LEED for Schools, LEED for Core + Shell and Retail: New Construction.
What is Proven Provider?
Proven Provider was developed to streamline the LEED project review process for experienced organizations that demonstrate consistent excellence in administering LEED projects. The designation is designed to encourage and reward high-quality LEED project submissions to minimize the need for additional work during the project review process. It represents an opportunity for SWA and LEED reviewers to work together in order to enhance the LEED certification experience. This simultaneously allows SWA to further invest in quality control and continuous improvement while allowing LEED reviewers more opportunities for direct engagement with and support for project teams.
How was it achieved?
SWA was eligible to pursue the Proven Provider designation after successfully certifying at least six LEED-certified projects within the BD+C rating system family. Then, SWA entered the evaluation period, where staff had to demonstrate both quality and accuracy in documentation across all submitted credits to GBCI through several project submissions in order to obtain this designation.
Why is this important for SWA?
SWA is committed to provide excellence in LEED Program Administration and certification support. The LEED Proven Provider designation is an achievement which validates this commitment. Doug Gatlin, Vice President of Program Delivery, USGBC and GBCI had this to say: “Quality is at the core of the LEED certification process, and SWA has exhibited expertise in helping to bring healthy, high-performing buildings to the market. The LEED Proven Provider model represents a great partnership between SWA and GBCI, because it allows GBCI to maintain a rigorous certification program and gives SWA the opportunity to deliver LEED projects to its clients faster.”
