The Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 (FHA), among other federal accessibility laws, requires that newly constructed multifamily residential buildings be designed and constructed to provide access to people with disabilities. A violation of these federal laws perpetuates discriminatory housing practices.

Peter Stratton, Senior Vice President, Director of Accessibility Compliance and Consulting with Steven Winter Associates will share practical experience gained and lessons learned from conducting countless plan reviews and inspections on thousands of dwelling units and common areas subject to the FHA.

In this session, you will learn how to:

1. Understand the general scoping requirements of the Fair Housing Act
2. Apply the seven technical design and construction requirements of the Fair Housing Act
3. Identify common violations of Fair Housing requirements
4. Employ realistic solutions to common design and construction errors
