Gayathri Vijayakumar is a Principal Mechanical Engineer at SWA and has twelve years of experience in evaluating residential and multifamily buildings with an emphasis on high-performance buildings and renewable energy systems. Ms. Vijayakumar provides technical assistance on sustainability projects by overseeing energy modeling and conducting analyses of costs and benefits of energy efficient measures in both new and existing residential construction. Using her knowledge of state and utility sponsored incentives and financing (e.g., Connecticut’s Green Bank and EnergizeCT), she assists projects in obtaining loans and incentives associated with energy efficiency and renewable systems. She further provides consulting to federal, state, and local agencies and programs to develop emerging standards and procedures that involve energy efficiency requirements, including the EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Multifamily High Rise Program, where she has provided technical support since 2008.

Ms. Vijayakumar also supports SWA’s role as a RESNET Accredited Rating Quality Assurance Provider, by ensuring SWA maintains its commitment to providing high-quality HERS ratings. She serves as one of the main points of contact for Eversource and United Illuminating with respect to SWA’s role as an Engineering and Technical Services Provider.

Ms. Vijayakumar is an active contributor to various technical committees that share a goal of improving codes and standards. She currently is a member of the ASHRAE 62.2 Multifamily Working Group, chair of RESNET’s Multifamily Sub-Committee, and chair of RESNET’s Standards Development Committee, SDC300.
