Heather Nolen is a Building Systems Director at SWA in the Multifamily Energy Services group. Her focus lies in using energy audits to design long-term capital plans for energy conservation.

Heather works with multifamily property owners and managers to evaluate, manage, and improve building energy consumption across their portfolios. By partnering with clients to address near- and long-term capital planning, she is able to recommend building upgrades that will yield significant energy- and cost-savings, reduce operations and maintenance expenditures, and improve resident comfort. She employs a diversified strategy that includes training, analysis, no- to low-cost improvements, and capital upgrades paired with services to satisfy government mandates and leverage available financial incentive programs.

Much of Heather’s auditing work is performed as SWA’s consultant with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Multifamily Performance Program (NYSERDA MPP) and performing ASHRAE Level II Energy Audits and retro-commissioning for New York’s Local Law 87 compliance. Extending her building assessments Ms. Nolen is on the project team conducting resiliency audits.

In the fall of 2014, Heather traveled to Sweden and Denmark with a team of architects and engineers to study the countries plans for carbon neutrality and creating near zero buildings, focusing on building retrofits. She brings this unique experience and valuable perspectives to her projects.
