Steps through LEED
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) offers a range of consulting services to assist design teams in achieving LEED ratings. SWA brings to the LEED process a thorough understanding of the system, its intent, and its implications to building design and construction (including cost implications). More importantly, SWA provides the technical support to meet LEED-defined goals. The firm’s expertise in energy analysis, IAQ evaluations, and “green” material/system recommendations coincide intrinsically with the LEED program.
The range of LEED-related services offered by SWA includes the following tasks, (a typical list for commercial buildings follows; it differs from services required for housing and neighborhood development) and can be tailored to fit the specific requirements and budget of a project.
Initial LEED Tabulation/Feasibility
Typically performed during the Schematic Design or Design Development Phase
Computer Energy Modeling using DOE-2.1E Software
Typically performed during the late Schematic Design or early Design Development Phases
LEED “Action Items” Report
Typically performed during the Design Development or early Construction Documents Phases
“Green” specification language
Typically performed during the Construction Documents Phase
Green “Process” Specification Assistance
