Our commitment to helping clients achieve high performance residential buildings is evident in the work we have done across the country. Our multifamily services include design review; energy auditing and energy efficient design; high performance maintenance and operations training; building systems research and development; ground-breaking work in the national programs like Energy Star and LEED; and extensive research on building energy usage in private and public housing.
Existing Building Energy Audits
SWA provides energy audit services for a variety of multifamily housing clients across the country, ranging from private cooperatives to large rental housing owners and privately held real estate investment trusts. In these assessments, SWA works with building owners and management staff to identify cost effective upgrades to all systems that impact energy performance, and to locate and change energy and resource consuming maintenance practices. Preliminary energy conservation recommendations are analyzed using energy modeling software to prioritize a scope of work for improvements. SWA staff meets with building owners and management to discuss audit report findings, and the implementation of recommended improvements. Owners and management staff are encouraged to attend SWA’s popular Energy Efficient Building Operator courses and national seminars; SWA also conducts site walkthroughs and on-site training for building staff at all levels.
Green Consulting and LEED
SWA combines its vast experience in residential buildings with its expertise in green building strategies and offers comprehensive consulting services. Comprehensive green building services include green education/strategic planning, LEED certification for New Construction, Homes and Existing Buildings; design and specification review; retrofit consulting; energy modeling and commissioning/retro-commissioning.
Energy Efficient Design Consulting
SWA assists building owners, architects and engineers get up to speed on making energy efficient design decisions through facilitating integrated design workshops during schematic design, design and specification review during DD and CD, energy modeling, contractor training and building system measurement and verification. As a Partner in the NYSERDA Multifamily Building Performance Program, SWA assists high performing buildings achieve the Energy Star label. The program is designed to increase the energy efficiency of multi-family dwellings by providing incentives for energy efficiency. In its role as a Partner, SWA offers technical consulting and energy modeling services to building owners and developers.
