Zero Energy Home Construction

Course Description: A presentation of two single family homes in Connecticut that achieve net zero. Each project used different construction techniques, products and mechanical systems to get a similar end result. The case studies focus on the construction from foundation to finishes and highlight third party testing and verification.

Learning Objectives:

    Understand techniques that were successful for a tight thermal envelope.
    Identify challenges with ERV installation, ducting, and testing.
    List the types of buildings that can be certified.
    Hear specific details about challenges encountered and solutions provided, particularly in reference to material selection installed in extreme temperatures.
    Understand the benefits of continued monitoring as it applies to occupant use and realistic building performance.
