William Zoeller is a Registered Architect and Director of Building Enclosure Services at SWA. He has 40 years of experience in building design and construction, building science research, energy-efficiency, building enclosure durability and moisture-management, and building materials product development. Bill has specialized expertise in building enclosure design and detailing; design to resist natural hazards; and energy upgrades in historic buildings. He has participated in product development and marketing analysis work for major building material manufactures including CertainTeed, DuPont, Dow, Owens Corning, and BASF.
As director of SWA’s Building Enclosure work, Bill has managed projects ranging masonry restoration of landmarked buildings and deep-energy retrofits to historic academic properties, to residential new construction towers located in FEMA designated flood zones.
He has managed hazards resistance research for HUD and FEMA, and leads SWA’s efforts in multifamily resiliency assessments and solutions implementation, including multiple property portfolios of Hurricane Sandy affected properties for NYC Housing Development Corporation.
Bill occupies the Energy-Efficiency seat on the State of Connecticut Codes & Standards Committee and is a frequent speaker and trainer on cost-effective high-performance building at national conferences and educational workshops.
